Caddihoe is a wonderful site cunningly hidden in the heart of Ashclyst Forest. The campsite itself has five fields covering nine acres, each surrounded by thick hedge with the occasional handy cut-through, two barns, both enclosed on three sides, and a listed cottage with a decent little kitchen. There’s a generator to provide lighting for most of the buildings and a reasonable toilet block – the only thing it lacks is hot showers.
In addition there’s free access to the forest, which is owned by the National Trust and is a mix of old conifer plantation and some broadleaf trees.
It does have one major downside, however; Lymes Disease has been found in the local tick population, and anti-tick measures are a must.
