The Defenders are currently recruiting from all Barony guilds for a new unit
who will be trained to use the FRAN and DAWN networks in order to respond to
escalating situations or immediate threats.
Applications should be made via your guild or directed to Warden Lieutenant Longford
via the 49th Griffinwold Company.
OOC Introduction
Under the overall command of Over-Captain Jameson, based out of the Griffinwold, the Instant Response Service will comprise of new patrolees so each guild have provided their best new recruits. Defenders may be members of the 49th Griffinwold company or seconded from other units.
The idea behind the I.R.S is to make use of the FRAN and DAWN1 networks and to offer a variety of different mission types whilst still in the familiar Barony set-up.
In this modern world full of problems, we need modern solutions to problems. If a shrine is threatened, we need to deal with it sooner rather than later. We don’t want to have to rely on a peasant’s disjointed report from a few weeks ago, we need accurate analysis from professional mages. We don’t want a dispute between villages and druids to fester and turn nasty, we want a patrol there to mediate as soon as possible.
The FRAN system gives us the means to get a patrol to a troubled area in less than a hour – but currently only a handful of selected mages can use it. This could all change with the formation of a selected group of patrolees. We can test then for affinity to both the FRAN and DAWN networks – give them training in its practical use and get them to respond to these emergencies. They can be on the scene of a disturbance in minutes – and either return for specialist help, or deal with it then and there.” – Extract from a Van Heusen Council meeting.

Characters can come from the local area, one of the other game areas (Cradle, Ludshire etc) or from somewhere completely new.
If they are defenders, you can choose to be a local member of the 49th or seconded from another unit elsewhere in the kingdom.
Could you also include an OOC note on if they would like their character to have an affinity to FRAN, DAWN or neither. They can change these choices later in the year.
