Fort Winston: A New Garrison

Welcome to the Campaign!

This is to help those who are planning their characters, and to give a flavour of what to expect in the upcoming campaign. More information will be posted at a later date, so if you have any character creation questions for now, please e-mail the gms at fortwinstoncampaign@gmail.com.

Fort Winston is a relatively new Garrison-Fort town that has been set up on the recently expanded North-East border of the Barony. It has grown to the point now where it is big enough to send out border patrols to the surrounding areas. The Barony has called for volunteers to move to Fort Winston to form the new patrol groups. Your character will be one of the new batch of patrollees who will serve, protect, investigate, and expand the Barony’s interests in this area.

The area is rough, untamed, and wild. Your task will be to help bring safety and stability to the villages and people in this area, helping to show the benefits of the Barony’s presence.

All characters will have attended a brief interview with a member of the military command staff in order to get Guard Overcaptain Peterson’s approval to be part of the patrol group. In this interview, it will have been impressed upon the character that this is primarily a military patrol system, and they will be expected to follow the chain of command and work together to resolve any problems, or situations that may arise. Those that are seen to not want to work within this framework will be held back from patrolling.

NPCs and Character Training:

Overall Command of Fort Winston and area: Guard Overcaptain Peterson
2nd In Command: Pathfinder Lieutenant Merith Everspan
Patrol Sergeants : Guard Sergeant Ragtagg, Warden Sergeant Smith (Justice)

(All character reports should be sent to the Patrol Sergeant and all reports will be passed onto appropriate guild representatives.)

Defenders and Gladiators:
Military character training comes through the Patrol Sergeants.
Gladiators special training comes through Champions Seamus and Greer, all other training through the military.

Priests:
There are two religious buildings in the Fort. One is a Justice/Order/Might Complex and is led by Marshal Camra, the other is a Freedom/Life/Balance Temple (Including Humacti) led by Guardian Horne. Paladins are welcome in both buildings for training and spiritual reflection.

Mages:
Mages are led by Wizard Ishtarnia from the Circle, with Tower and Illuminati Representatives in the same building to provide specialised training.

There are no specific representatives for the Artisans or Artificers guild – all training needs for these two guilds come through the military for now.

There is no druid grove in the area. Druids characters are welcome, and will find out how they will progress in training IC.

There is no Bladesinger training available within Fort Winston, although there is a group of wild elf Bladesingers east of the campaign area who have agreed with Guard Overcaptain Peterson to provide any training that any patrol member needs.

Character Creation

To play in this campaign, as a minimum please email the GMs at fortwinstoncampaign@gmail.com with your character’s name, race, class/guild and a bit of background/personality, so we understand what you want to play.

There are no restrictions on available character races, classes or guilds outside of the normal TL restrictions. There is also room for the unaffiliated but they will still need to convince the Defenders to let them come on patrols – and keep letting them, which depends on the reactions of your fellow characters and the NPCs.

Your character will only be accepted on games once we’ve agreed to it, so we look forward to hearing about them!

Once your character is accepted it would be appreciated if you could keep an up to date version of your stats in their Notes section of their Profile so we know what sort of things to expect from them (at least in terms of stats).

To give people new to the system a hand, we will try to find you an experienced ‘buddy’ who can help you with statting and rules questions for the year – you can also consult the OOC message boards or drop us an email if you get stuck.

Existing characters can also join the campaign under the same rules as above but you will be asked to wait for the game rank bracket to catch up to your character’s rank first as normal.

Living space is provided within Fort Winston for all patrollees.
